Jesse is acclaimed for his performances in contemporary works, and for his own compositions and improvisations. He has two GRAMMY nominations for recordings of works by Arnold Schoenberg; his other recordings include works by Webern, Wuorinen, John Musto, Aaron Kernis, and John Zorn. As a composer and arranger, Jesse has been commissioned by Columbia University’s Miller Theater, Chamber Music Northwest Festival in Portland, Oregon, and Bargemusic in New York City.
With the pianist Rieko Aizawa, Jesse performs as Duo Prism, earning first prize at the 2006 Zinetti International Competition in Italy. He and Reiko are co-founders and co-artistic directors of the Alpenglow Chamber Music Festival in Silverthorne, Colorado. He also co-founded and performs in the Horszowski Trio. In 2010, New York City’s Third Street Music School Settlement honored Jesse with the Rising Star Award, a prestigious recognition of artistic achievement. Since his concerto debut at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Jesse has appeared as soloist with the Phoenix, Colorado, New Jersey and Green Bay Symphonies, the Juilliard Chamber Orchestra, the Denver Philharmonic, the Teatro Argentino Orchestra in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Aspen Music Festival's Sinfonía Orchestra. Jesse graduated from The Juilliard School in 2001, where he studied with Dorothy DeLay, Robert Mann and Itzhak Perlman. He lives in New York City, and serves on the faculties of New York University and of the Longy School of Music at Bard College.
